Omnibot 5402 – Tomy has created toy robots throughout the years and in the 80’s created a line of small personal robots. It is truely astounding what they were able to acomplish utilizing the resources at the time to manufacture and sell this product line. The Omnibot had a cassette tape player built into the chest area of the robot, which slid out like a drawer to reveal the cassette and could record and playback sequences of commands, as well as regular audio recordings. The built in digital clock with timers and alarms allowed the playback of movement recordings at specified times. It was able to broadcast speech from the remote control handset through a speaker on the robot, and was shipped with a cardboard “home” base which was suggested to be taped to the floor and used as a reference point for programming. The Omnibot carried a specially made tray which slotted into its claws, and could carry objects. Robot Specifications: 1. Digital Clock from basic IC chips

I made this for a final project in a digital circuits class. It’s a fully functional 12-hour clock with an AM/PM light. It’s made out of basic TTL chips such as adders, counters, logic gates, and decoders. What I actually built is only the minutes and hours portion of the clock. I hooked it up to a 555 timer circuit and you can see that it increments the minutes directly. (Warning, technobabble) If you wanted to use it as an actual clock you could hook up the lowest counter chip’s CLK pin to a circuit that divides a 32.768kHz crystal oscillation down by 2^15th, then by 60, to give a steady and reliable 1-minute pulse. Also hooking up the other counter’s CLK pins to debounced switches allows for presetting times.
